Ladies Night

“It’s the year of the woman so we wanted to do something for the ladies,” Carnel “Mr. C” Coyle explains of the inspiration for bringing together four of the top female talents in comedy to Columbus for a special one-night show Saturday at the Springer Springer Opera.

LaShon P. Smith

“Single in the City” draws from concept developed by headliner Kiana Dancie, the TV/YouTube star best known for her hilarious takes on life and love on shows “Soul Sister Circle” and “Off the Chain.” Coyle and his 1on1Entertainment promotion company partnered with LaShon P. Smith, a local voice and self-esteem coach and radio personality, to bring show to town and the staley State Theater of Georgia.

“Having it at the Springer takes it up a notch as far as making it a nice night out,” Coyle says. “These comics are pretty mild-mannered as far as material, with a few bad words here and there.  They’re mostly talking about real life and real situations they’re going through. It’s not just for women, it’s the quality comedy everyone call relate to.”

As female-created comedy continues its surge, from “Orange is the Black” a few years back to HBO’s brilliant, black-casted and written “Insecure,” African-American ladies are no doubt leading this charge.

Proving that point Saturday night, Dancie will be joined by Sweet Baby Kita Winner of Apollo 2018 and Kevin Hart’s “Hart of the City.”

Tickets $37.50 Balcony Seating, $47.50 Orchestra Seating and $57.50 VIP, which includes a meet-and-greet after-party and swag bag, and available through the Springer box office.
